Smoking cessation initiatives

  • Health Management & Occupational Safety and Health

Since 2009, we have been working on smoking cessation support. The smoking rate was 21.1% in 2009 and decreased to 13.2% in 2012. It rose to 15.4% in 2020, so we implemented a complete smoking ban on the premises and selected tobacco task force members from employees in various positions. We strengthened the smoking cessation support program and conducted communications from top management about quitting smoking and lectures by experts. As a result, the smoking rate decreased to 12.4% in 2021, further to 11.0% in 2022, 9% in 2023, and 8.5% in 2024. We will continue to provide support with the goal of reducing the smoking rate by 20% each year, aiming ultimately to become an organization with zero smokers.
