Health Management Initiatives to Support Women's Empowerment
- DE&I
Our company has established the corporate philosophy of "continuing to be a company that values the environment, life, and human resources," and one of the ways we embody the importance of valuing human resources is through our commitment to health management.
We hope for our employees to work healthily and energetically, and we implement detailed health management tailored to different age groups and genders.
In particular, women often face different health challenges depending on their generation, and some may struggle with work due to physical discomfort. However, having the knowledge to address these issues can lead to choosing work styles that suit their health challenges, which both the individual and the workplace can agree on. This, in turn, can lead to improved health literacy and performance. To support our female employees, we are implementing the following initiatives.
① Introduction of breast cancer and cervical cancer screenings
Since 2010, we have introduced voluntary screenings and have achieved a significantly higher screening rate than the national average, striving for early detection and treatment of breast and cervical cancer. As a result, there have been cases of early detection and treatment, and as a company, we have also worked on support for balancing work and treatment, achieving workplace reintegration in all cases.
② Promotion of breast self-examination methods
Recognizing the importance of regular self-examinations in addition to screenings, we conduct health guidance on self-examination methods using breast cancer models, led by our in-house health nurses.
③ Holding health enhancement seminars for women
We hold group health guidance on topics such as "the role of female hormones," "women's menstrual cycles," "premenstrual syndrome," "uterine and ovarian diseases including uterine cancer," "breast cancer," "vaginal discharge," and "tips for becoming healthy and beautiful."
④ One-day health seminar
Using our company's hotel, we regularly hold day-trip health seminars as opportunities to acquire new exercise habits through group dynamics and other effects. We invite female health instructors and consider creating an environment that is easy for women to participate in.
We will continue to work on improving the quality of health support and fostering employees with high health literacy.
Introduction of cancer screening
Breast cancer and cervical cancer, which are specific to women, are said to be almost 100% curable if detected early. However, due to embarrassment, inconvenience, and lack of correct knowledge, the screening rates for cervical and breast cancer are low nationwide. Considering this situation, we introduced voluntary screenings for breast and cervical cancer in 2010. In the first year of introduction, to increase the screening rate, we conducted health guidance by in-house health nurses and implemented breast cancer palpation experiences using breast cancer models at each location. Since then, we have created health guidance materials on breast and cervical cancer and continued awareness activities regarding screening.
Implementation of health enhancement seminars for women
With the aim of enabling female employees to properly manage their health by understanding the unique characteristics and functions of the female body throughout their life stages, thereby demonstrating sufficient performance, we held health enhancement seminars for women conducted by in-house health nurses.
The main topics include the role of female hormones, women's menstrual cycles, premenstrual syndrome, uterine diseases, breast cancer, breast self-examination methods, abnormal vaginal discharge, and tips for becoming healthy and beautiful.
This seminar was held during working hours, and to provide participants with a relaxing time, we burned aroma and offered herbal tea at the seminar venue, striving to create an environment that was easy to participate in.
Holding the day-trip seminar "Wellness Tourism in Ibusuki"
Using our company's hotel, we regularly hold health seminars for interested participants. To create an environment that is easy for women to participate in, we have made efforts such as employing female external instructors for exercise guidance. Additionally, from the perspective of enhancing quality of life, we simultaneously held aroma classes, which are of high interest to female employees, with in-house health nurses as instructors, allowing participants to create and take home room sprays.
There were male participants as well, but more than half were female participants, and it serves as a catalyst for acquiring new exercise habits through group dynamics effects and the Hawthorne effect.
