Medipolis (Social Benefit Creation) Project

Our company owns a vast and nature-rich site of over 1 million tsubo (Medipolis Ibusuki) on a hill in Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture. Utilizing this natural capital, we are developing the 'Hospitality Business' for operating hotel accommodations and the 'Power Generation Business' for operating a geothermal power plant as projects to create social benefits.
These businesses embody our corporate philosophy of 'continuing to be a company that values the environment, life, and human resources,' and they create social benefits not only from an economic perspective but also from the viewpoint of social and environmental issues.

Hospitality

  • The hospitality business operates two facilities, 'Villa Amafuru Oka' and 'HOTEL Freesia', tailored to meet customer needs.
Through our hospitality business, we provide people with well-being (mental, physical, and social health) while fostering a spirit of hospitality towards customers company-wide, which leads to the enhancement of our corporate value.

    Hospitality
  • Villa Tenfuru Oka

Well-being means 'living a healthy life'. In other words, it indicates being aware that your body, mind, and surrounding environment are all in a good state. At Villa Amafuru Oka, we assist in enhancing well-being by providing a healing space, attentive service, and satisfying meals.

Power Generation Business

The Power Generation Business primarily develops and operates geothermal power plants utilizing the abundant geothermal resources in Ibusuki City.
Geothermal power is expected to be a baseload power source that can generate electricity stably throughout the year without being affected by weather, while being a renewable energy source, in addressing climate change issues. Our company is working on the spread of renewable energy centered around the geothermal resources of Ibusuki.

  • How Geothermal Power Works

Geothermal power generation is a method of generating electricity by utilizing the thermal energy of underground magma, and it is one of the renewable energy generation methods.
Rainwater that has permeated underground is heated by magma, accumulating in large quantities deep underground in a high-temperature, high-pressure state. This is called a 'geothermal reservoir.' In geothermal power generation, wells are drilled towards this geothermal reservoir to extract high-temperature steam and hot water. The extracted steam and hot water are used to turn turbines, which is the process of geothermal power generation. Additionally, the extracted steam and hot water are returned to the geothermal reservoir through reinjection wells.

    How Geothermal Power Works
  • Geothermal Power Plant

Since 2015, our company has been operating the first binary geothermal power plant (1,500kW class) in the country as a purely private enterprise.
Geothermal power generation has almost zero CO2 emissions and can generate electricity stably throughout the year, unaffected by weather conditions day or night. Our geothermal power plant maintains a high equipment operation rate and generates approximately 10 million kWh annually. The generated electricity is sold under the FIT (Feed-in Tariff) system, providing a stable source of revenue.

  • Hot spring thermal power plant

We have constructed a hot spring power plant (625kW class) utilizing surplus steam from the hot springs used for bathing and floor heating at our hotel. Unlike geothermal power generation, hot spring power generation does not require new drilling. Since it uses the heat of hot springs for power generation, hot spring power generation also has almost zero CO2 emissions and significantly contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gases.
The electricity generated by hot spring power generation can also be sold under the FIT system.
