CRO (Contract Research Organization) Business
In order to create new drugs, it is necessary to conduct "non-clinical studies" and "clinical trials" to evaluate their efficacy and safety. "Non-clinical studies" are tests that confirm the efficacy and safety of drug candidate compounds using cells and experimental animals. A clinical trial is a test to determine whether a drug candidate compound whose safety has been assured in non-clinical studies is effective and safe for humans.
In the past, pharmaceutical companies used to carry out all R&D processes in-house, but due to management decisions that it is more efficient to outsource (outsource) than to have all the facilities and staff in-house, there is now a growing movement to outsource non-clinical studies and clinical trials to CROs (contract research organizations) that have specialized knowledge, know-how, and achievements.
SNBL is the first CRO in Japan, and our CRO business consists of a non-clinical business that undertakes non-clinical clinical studies and a clinical business that undertakes clinical trials.
