Career change from previous job and thoughts onSNBL
Previously, I worked for a major real estate developer, mainly in charge of office building development and office leasing sales. When I entered my fifth year as a member of society, I was attracted toSNBL , which is characterized by its "global social contribution" and "philosophy of valuing employees," and decided to join the company as a career-track employee. All corporate activities contribute to society in some way, but our business is characterized by its particularly high level of social contribution. Our absolute mission is to "support the improvement of drug discovery and medical technology, and to free humanity from suffering," and the realization that my efforts are directly connected to a global social contribution was something that I could not experience in my previous job. We have a large number of excellent researchers, world-class research facilities, and valuable management resources such as information and know-how accumulated over a history of more than 60 years. The mission required of us as career-track employees is to make optimal use of these management resources and aim for further corporate growth and the achievement of social responsibility.
Honing management skills through MBA studies abroad
To achieve my mission, I utilized the company's support system to study at the Graduate School of Business Administration at Hitotsubashi University (MBA). There, I studied business administration daily with people dispatched from major companies and government ministries, as well as international students from around the world. It is nostalgic to recall how, rather than simply attending lectures, I persistently questioned 'questions without answers' with my classmates (sometimes until morning), honing deep thinking skills and problem-solving abilities suitable for managers. Now, I am using the theories and thinking skills acquired in the MBA to review the structure of existing businesses and launch new businesses. Additionally, there are employees other than myself who are studying for an MBA at Kyoto University, Waseda University, and other institutions using the support system. Step-by-step training system to learn the managerial mindset
Additionally, our company has a step-by-step training system known as Nagata University, Nagata Juku, and Nagata Juku Preparatory Students. These are management schools where you can learn the managerial mindset directly from President Nagata. At Nagata Juku, you mainly engage in reading activities and discussions with the president, realizing significant changes in your actions and thinking. There is no opportunity at universities or MBAs to thoroughly learn the mindset of a person who has borne the heavy responsibility of being a president and has significantly grown the company for over 30 years. I believe this is a unique feature of our company, which values its employees.
