human rights
Policy/Basic Concept
SNBL promotes business activities that respect the human rights of all stakeholders, including executives and employees, business partners, and local communities, based on a unique code of ethics based on our corporate philosophy of "continuing to be a company that values the environment, life, and human resources." In addition to complying with relevant laws and regulations in Japan and overseas, we endorse the principles of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and are committed to practicing respect for human rights in accordance with international norms on human rights, such as the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
Policy on Respect for Human RightsPromotion Structure
Under the responsibility of the executive officer in charge of human resources, our company promotes initiatives to respect human rights, focusing on the Human Resources and SDGs Committee. Issues related to respecting human rights, such as considering mitigation and corrective measures for human rights issues identified through human rights impact assessments, are confirmed and discussed by the SDGs Committee and reported to the Board of Directors as necessary.
Human Rights Due Diligence
We recognize that our business activities may have a negative impact on human rights, either directly or indirectly. In accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, we have established a human rights due diligence framework to prevent or mitigate the negative impact of our business activities on human rights in society, and we will continue to implement this framework while disclosing its progress and results externally.
Human Rights Impact Assessment and Identification of Potential Risks
We conduct impact assessments of potential risks to human rights and identify potential human rights risks related to our business activities across the entire value chain. From the extracted human rights risks, we have identified significant human rights issues.
Regarding human rights impact assessments, we plan to conduct them regularly across our entire group, considering the importance of risk management.
Preventive and corrective measures
For human rights issues identified as having a high negative impact on human rights, we take preventive and mitigating measures to correct the negative impact.
Information Disclosure
In accordance with our policy on respecting human rights, we transparently disclose the progress of our efforts to address negative impacts on human rights through our website and integrated reports.
Relief Measures
Reporting System and Response Mechanism
We provide a reporting system and response mechanism that allows stakeholders inside and outside the company to report human rights concerns without fear of retaliation. Our "Policy on Internal Reporting and Prohibition of Retaliation" stipulates that no disadvantageous treatment will be given for reporting or cooperating in investigations. In the event of a human rights violation allegation, we promptly investigate the claim and take corrective measures to address the negative impact on human rights.
