Water Resources

Policy/Basic Concept

Based on the 'Environmental Policy,' we strongly recognize that water resources are essential for business continuity, and we strive to reduce water usage through efficient use and reuse of water, as well as proper water treatment. We are working to enhance awareness of water sustainability within the company and improve the efficiency of water resource use and reduce usage through regular monitoring of water use.

Promotion structure/system

Our company incorporates sustainability-related risks and opportunities into decision-making for each business activity. To systematically expand and promote the group's sustainability efforts from a medium- to long-term perspective, we have established an SDGs Committee as an advisory body to the Board of Directors, which meets monthly.
Risks and opportunities related to the environment are discussed by the Environmental Committee, a subcommittee of the SDGs Committee. The chairperson of the Environmental Committee is the officer in charge of sustainability, and they position the status of initiatives, challenges, and investment decisions in the water resources sector as important themes essential for sustainable growth. The deliberations are reported to the SDGs Committee and, as necessary, to the Board of Directors.
We analyze the aggregated environmental performance data at each site and utilize it in PDCA management.
For risk assessment of water resources at our sites, we utilize the 'Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas' by the World Resources Institute (WRI), an international environmental NGO. We assess water risk by checking water stress and water depletion risks at each site. In the 'Aqueduct Water Risk Atlas,' business sites with 'High' or above in 'Baseline Water Stress' or 'Baseline water depletion' are designated as 'water stress areas.'
